If your sound card is sending all of it's output into your mic like it has been doing to me for weeks now, fear not, for Waylon fumbled around all night moaning and using words that would make a sailor, and dare I say even Twister blush with shame in finding the solution...

Open your master volume control, Click 'Options', and then 'Properties'

From there select "Recording" and make sure the "Stereo Mix" box is checked. Hit "Ok" and then mute the "Stereo Mix"

Goodbye to all of your excess sound!
